You may be wondering what it's like to travel to another country on a missions trip.  You may have questions like; What will I be eating?  Where will I sleep?  Will I be uncomfortable?  What will they ask me to do?  Do they speak another language?

It's completely natural to have questions.  So, if you're full of questions about what you'd be getting yourself into, we'd like to give you some answers!

First of all, New Road Missions handles all your travel logistics, you don't have to worry about a thing.  As long as your passport is up to date, you're ready to go!  We generally fly on a non stop flight from Newark to Johannesburg.  Although we'll admit it is a long flight, a non stop flight cuts down on your travel time significantly.  If you've ever driven to Disney World - you can do this!

You will stay at our own comfortable Lodge and Conference Center.  There are comfortable beds, bathrooms and showers with hot water.  We have a chef who prepares meals in our own onsite kitchen.  The food is delicious and very comparable to what you eat here at home. You will not be eating in the villages or in anyone's personal homes.

The children we are ministering to come from local communities, and do speak english, although it is their second langauge.  We usually do a quick tour of the areas so you can see what the children's living conditions look like. During this tour you will realize that our day camps are like Disney World for these children, who have very little in the way of possessions or entertainment. But they are the happiest kids you'll ever meet.

We love that the kids camps give the youth from our high school ministry an opportunity to serve The Lord and give of their time and energy.  So you don't have to do this alone; we will be working along side the youth from our school ministry and helping in various ways.  You could be asked to help as a small group leader, or to manage a station such as story telling, imagination station - crafts, games and activities, or you may have experience as a photographer or videographer, or as a medic in charge of the first aid kit.  We are happy to use your skills and talents where you feel most comfortable.

We always include some fun cultural activities in your trip, including a truly South African meal and a game drive to see the wealth of animal life that South Africa has to offer.  Travel is always a great experience and broadens our perspectives and helps us to see what life is like outside of our little bubble.

We would love to have you apply for one of our kids camp trips or our youth retreat camp.  Please take a look our webpage to determine which trip would be best for you.  It could be just what God is calling you to do - get out of your comfort zone and trust Him to use you in someone else's life.

If God has been tugging on your heart, don't put Him off!! Apply today!
